The original draft of this email was sent to NPR’s “Morning Edition” co-host Noel King in response to her extended interview today with celebrity human-rights activist Bianca Jagger, bemoaning the brutal suppression of democracy activists by Nicaragua’s unabashed communist dictator Daniel Ortega. The email was copied to several of Ms. King’s NPR colleagues who, presumably like the gullible leftist Ms. Jagger herself, are shocked, shocked that a ruthless totalitarian would murder his political opponents.
Dear Ms. King,
Regardless of what native Nicaraguan, long-ago super model and rockstar’s ex Bianca Jagger may have thought about the Sandanistas’ glorious revolution in its heady early days, no one who knew anything about the tens of millions of corpses left in the 20th-century wake of Stalin, Mao, the Kims, Pol Pot, Castro and other real-world practitioners of Marxism are remotely surprised by Daniel Ortega’s homicidal conduct today [“Has Nicaragua’s President Become A Dictator? He’s Jailing Political Opponents.” Morning Edition, June 23].
Ortega’s communist dictatorship by comparison now makes that of fascist Samoza look almost benign, akin to a chubby mall cop yelling at rambunctious teenagers for horsing around by the fountain. In fact, if the late Ronald Reagan and Jeane Kirkpatrick were still around, they might say to Ms. Jagger and all you woke kids at NPR, “We told you so.” And they might add, “Be careful what you wish for.”
Because while the radical left here at home hasn’t yet adopted President Ortega’s totalitarian penchant for brutal murders as a means to suppressing political opponents, our leftists have embraced the routine doxxing of their opponents, 3:00 a.m. drum circles on their lawns, the splattering of goat’s blood on their front doors, pressuring employers to fire them, canceling their book deals, banning them from social media and even jailing them without bail for nonviolent trespassing at the Capitol.
Meanwhile, the Biden Justice Department is irresponsibly throwing around terms like “white supremacists,” “extremists,” and “domestic terrorists” to describe the unwoke masses in its new national strategy for political suppression paid for by all taxpayers — even those who might expect a joint FBI-CNN raid on their homes at dawn someday soon as a signal to pipe down.
So, while we’re all sorry to hear that poor Ms. Jagger can’t get no satisfaction with her Nicaraguan dictators, it would seem that neither can our would-be revolutionaries here at home. You abhor dictators who don’t hide their love of money and luxury, and then you pretend to be surprised when corrupted replacement dictators’ comparable love of money and luxury becomes obvious — when their con-man language drawn directly from Marx’s Communist Manifesto and Mao’s Little Red Book just doesn’t fool you anymore.
Well, it’s high time you all grew up and smelled the fair-trade coffee. Socialism is ultimately totalitarianism. And totalitarianism is ultimately soulless and brutal. Period.
NPR should stop subjecting its listeners to infantile commie pipe-dreams, especially those of well-off celebrities. Until it does, we can all expect the erosion of legacy media’s credibility to continue apace. (Please feel free to share my email with Ms. Jagger.)
