The original draft of this email was sent to Washington Post soft-on-crime reporter Peter Hermann and copied to his editors and publisher, as well as D.C.’s mayor, attorney general, police chief and City Council members, all of whom are helping to embolden criminals by castrating the police. One such criminal driving a Maserati recently felt so emboldened that, when a woman apparently cut him off in city traffic, he got out of his car to fire gunshots at her, her small boy in the backseat, and an eyewitness in the car behind him – all in broad daylight. Remarkably, the Post placed this story where readers were least likely to find it.
Dear Peter,
It’s hard to believe your miffed Maserati man-child story is buried below the fold on the back of today’s Metro section [“Police search for man who shot driver,” B8, May 27], while the section’s front page is dominated by light-hearted, multiple photo coverage of a high school musical [“All the parking lot’s a stage,” B1, May 27]. It would seem your editors and publisher don’t want readers and citizens getting any ideas about demanding that police be allowed to get more aggressive with gun criminals.
In any case, you’re welcome to quote in any follow-up coverage this longtime Washington resident saying, “If the Maserati man-child eventually resists arrest, even for a split-second, I hope a sharp-shooting officer like the one who dropped gun-wielding Deon Kay puts him out of our misery with a single shot to the chest. It’ll save us all the costs of a trial and incarceration.”
Yours, Darren McKinney
